700 vs. 900 volvos? 700 1990

Don't know if this is the right site for my question, but here goes., What do you guys think of a 740 auto as opposed to a 900? I am considering updating to a 1998 V90 wagon however many posts state of the expensive repairs due to the sufistacted technology of the later 900's. I am presently the owner of a 1990 740 wagon and love the reliability, gas mileage and modest repair bills. Any opinions??
