clutch question 900 1993

2.0 turbo 940 1993 estate. UK 5 speed OD manual with hydraulic clutch (no adjustment as far as I can see)

Does my clutch need replacing? Occasionally difficult to get into 1st or 2nd gear from a standstill (like at traffic lights). and have to push clutch all the way down to the floor. I've had no clutch slip though. No squeaks bangs or grumbles from the clutch.

The few folks I've talked to say the spring fingers have probably lost their spring but the plate is probably OK.

Wouldnt like to waste money on a clutch when It could be another problem, so what do experienced volvo 900 owners think of the above symptoms please.

regards
pierso
