95 960 EGR Valve... or the code 241 blues...or whatnot 900 1995

Hey All,

So Maggie (1995 965 165k)blinked out a code 241 code. I reset the computer and got another check engine light on/241 code a day later.

So here's some questions.

1. Do I really need to remove my throttle body to get to my EGR valve? As that seems to be the only way to get to it.

2. I have the Haynes/or chilton book for my car, should I follow the vacuum testing procedures in there? (for egr valve and vacuum controller)

3. At 165k should I just replace it? It may of been cleaned at around 100k but I can't be sure. I plan to remove and blast out the EGR valve with carb cleaner, check all the vacuum lines, and clean all the electrical contacts involved as well.
How does the labor time required to remove/clean/replace compare to the $300 for a brand new EGR valve?

4. How many miles/days/months do I have to fix this before it becomes a real problem? ....and what will it do to my car?

Thanks as always, answers or links to existing articles are greatly appreciated.
