Plastic buckets which interchange with the metal originals are available. They should solve your problem.
Not electric but I like the ones that fit centre roof just behind the top edge of the windscreen. Up where the radio waves are good and out of the way of the vandals. I have one on my 2 door. Easy to put an electric one in the trunk on a saloon but not so easy with a wagon.
