no sound out of radio 700 1990

hi,

this is my first post. i have a 1990 volvo 780. really like this car. dad drives it around most of the time though. it originally came with a cassette deck (i forget the model) but i installed a cr 814 with a factory cd changer under the rear deck. i tried to keep everything as original as possible. the rear amplifier was broken long ago. i even went to the trouble of having the amplifier repaired but broke again. front amplifier did work so i was able to get sound. recently my dad replaced the car battery. the radio flashed "code" so i entered the code and now the radio lights up and so does the equalizer. however there is no sound. i checked the fuses and everything seems ok. has anyone had this problem before??? i really dont want to rip this out and place an aftermarket.
