upgrading S90-V90

hello all ....I may be looking to upgrade. I've got a couple of 240 wagons and i guess im looking for a more updated RWD Volvo version that is reliable like the 240. Would the S90 be the ticket? are there any known common issues with this car? Should i consider a 700/900 series with the 4 cylinder?
