What was this for? Was it a light? 700

Hi folks,

While installing my aux fan switch in my dash, I was able to investigate a small red light installed on my dash. It has puzzled me since I got the car in 2008. It appears to be an aftermarket addition, but its wires are cut, with only 3" or so dangling off the rear of the light.

While I was in there, I found evidence that the previous owner had installed a subwoofer sometime in the past, and hastily removed it (read: cut wires). As a result of the hack job under there, I had rewired my stereo about a year ago.

Anyway, images of this bizarre thing are below, and any insight you guys might give me would be appreciated. Is it a clipping indicator? Is it a stock Volvo thing that I have not recognized?

Thanks!

Ari
