1997 S90 General Questions S90-V90 1997

1997 Volvo S90 sedan: 6 cylinder gas engine, 4 speed automatic overdrive transmission and independent rear suspension with locker differential. 97,000 miles. All the bells and whistles. Really nice condition all the way around.

This is what my wife is thinking of buying. I'm a 240 guy and don't know much about the drivetrain in this S90 except that I've heard bad things about Volvo six cylinders. Can this be a decent DIY car? Any information would really be appreciated: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Owner wants $4800.
