Well, it turns out I must have punched the code into the unit incorrectly, because once the EEE cleared it worked the second time. Whew!

Thanks for the responses, though; I will be replacing it at some point. Talked to Crutchfield and they don't have any speakers that will fit the front doors, so I guess I need to research that a little more.
