Will busted shift link bushings mess up the operation of the shift
interlock switch?

I have some trashed shift lever bushings and an intermitant condition
where the car wont crank/start without shorting out the starter terminal.

Will the replacement of the sheft lever bushings solve the shift lever
switch problem OR do I also need a new interlock switch?

Any ideas?????????
