Throttle Body cleaning. 200

Hi,

I have a 240dl 1989 station wagon with 215,000 miles. I got used in late December. Sunny day and I decided to check my throttle body. I don't know what a clean TB looks like but I am pretty sure that this isn't it. Should I clean both sides of the TB? I saw the 700/900 FAQ on cleaning the throttle body - would the best way of cleaning this out be to spray some fuel injection cleaner into a rag - or just spray the fuel injection cleaner directly into the TB?

As I was taking off the throttle body, the connection of a hose to the tube that hooks onto the throttle body came loose - it looks like the former owner had put on some kind of concoction/glue to reseal it. what would be the best thing to use? (I wish I could word this better but a picture is worth a thousand words)

thanks,

Jimmy
