Remove trim panel with back door shut? 200

Any tips or tricks? I was repairing the stop-rivets my door handles today and have left myself in a pickle. I thought I had checked to make sure the latch was operative prior to closing the door, though to my surprise, neither the inner nor outer door handle would open the latch. I've tried fishing around with a bent hanger to pop the mechanism - thus far with little success. Any recommendations short of popping all of the small panel-clips to get the inner trim panel off so that I can access the mechanism and make the adjustments necessary?

Bashfully,
