A/C Problem 700

My son's 93 V70 wagon's a/c system is not operating. When it is activated, the compressor doesn't engage. The system is full of 134 and we shorted the pressure switch, which didn't engage the compressor. We also energized the compressor clutch with a test lead and it fired right up and started cooling. The wiring to the compressor looks okay. There is another 3 pronged sensor behind the passenger front headlight. We didn't mess with that because we didn't know what it's for. Any suggestions would help. It's hot here! Thanks!
