no start 940 900 1994

my 940 has developed a starting problem. it started to stall after starting in the morning when i put it in gear. it would usually restart without problem but occasionally would refuse till i let it sit for awhile. i found that i could avoid the problem if i let the idle settle down after starting. it seemed to stumble 2-5 sec. after firing. then one day it fired and ran for 3-5 sec. then died and refused to start. it would fire a bit but would not run. i replaced all the usual suspects: FPR, RSR, RPM sensor. it will start now, but still wants to cut out after 3-5 sec. if i don't feather the gas pedal. it hesitates on acceleration. the performance is reminisent of an AMM problem i had with my 740. could the MAP sensor cause this kind of problem?
