What killed my O2 sensor. 200

My distibutor problem ended up being a O2 sensor problem. I pulled the one I put in just few thousand miles/two years ago and it looked all sorts of deposited on and discolored. The threads where also stripped so maybe I over tightened it. I used a volt meter to check it and all I could get is a little movement of the needle. The new one showed 4 times more and made the car accelerate with power and its not stalling the way it was before. Now I've got to get that chrysler distributor out and the 85 bosch back in to see if it will work right with an 83 icu.

What kills the O2 sensor?
