No start (no crank), then OK 200 1993

Fri eve driving home, stopped at two places for about 30 min. At my last stop, the car would not start. No crank, and no fuel pump sound when I tried to start the car. Radio/headlights worked. Checked fuses, tried to start the car several times. Figured my battery was weak, called the Mrs. for a jump. Waited 15 minutes, then it started fine on it's own, no problems since (execpt the Mrs. was a little torqued for getting called out on a false alarm). I haven't had a chance to do any research, but wanted to ask the question before I'm stuck someplace. I did throw a spare fuel pump relay in the glovebox.
Wha-happen?
Thanks!
JP
