Body trim clip replacement 200

As noted by my earlier post, I am trying my hand at some simple body-work on my 1989 245 which right now includes a new driver's side fender and a little practice at some painting technique. To be frank, anything will look better than my crumpled fender. It may embolden me to try the hood.

So I have the upper trim strips off the fender, and incidentally, the front driver's side as well. There are a number of broken nylon clips in both pieces. I have a slew of good ones from the extra trip strip I got at the wrecking yard and would like to use these to replace the broken clips. I can not figure how to get the old ones out and the new ones in.

Any handy tips?

Thanks.

D.
