If you live in the US i wouldnt take it to your local car wash to get this done, its tech illegal as you are washing off hazardous materials and they could possibly enter the ground or get into the sewer system.
also if your wireing harness is shot i wouldnt recomend getting water even close to it i tried that long ago on one of my 700's and the water made it into the harness cover and got all over, i ended up having to cut the entire cover off the harness and dry it out. also if you still decide to do it make sure to diconnect the battery and cover your alternator.
