Tranny fluid/flush 900 1994

Hi All
First question, I was going to first drain the couple quarts of T/F in the pan and re-fill then do the flush. BUT the stupid drain plug seems pretty well seized on there. I am sure I could bust it loose but....do I really want to try? I am just afraid someone may have JB welded it or some other hacker methodology of dealing with a stripped plug. No evidence of leak at all so last night I just went and did the flush. Just annoys me knowing it is stuck.
Leave it?
Next question is regarding synthetic fluid. I flushed using regular T/F, it was really dirty. I am thinking I want to run it for a week or so to let some varnish be dissolved then flush with Synthetic. BUT it was 8.95$ a quart at the local auto store. I just found this online, http://amaliestore.com/proddetail.php?prod=160-72866-56&gclid=CK3oxqXNuZoCFRINDQodSxwubg
Is Amalie a decent brand?
Thanks
Matt
