I've routinely taken my three 240s to the same state inspection facility for (literally) decades (the one at Kilmer, in Edison or Piscataway -- not sure of the town border). Two of my cars, an '84 and '93, get even-year inspections, but my other '93 is on an odd-year pattern, so I brought that one in this past week.
To my amazement, they only did an idle check, and the printout didn't even show any measure (or standard requirement) for NOx -- it has a line labeled NOx, but nothing (neither "standard" nor "reading") was printed on it, as if it was reprogrammed to forget the test. And instead of saying (as in the past) that the test conformed to "ASM 5015 Enhanced Emissions and Safety", it instead said "2500 rpm emissions test and safety".
This is the first time -- I've always been tested on the dyno, and the printouts have always shown NOx standards (in fact, I failed last year with my other '93, only to pass after putting in a new cat).
Anyone else been inspected recently in NJ and have had this experience?
Of course, I didn't ask the inspector why they didn't include dyno and NOx level tests -- the car passed on what they did check, so I wasn't looking for trouble :-) !!!
Regards to all.
