240 Tail light woes 200 1993

The backup lights are not in the Bulb Failure sensor circuit so they are just daisy chained from the Drivers side to the passenger side (black wire).
You can lift the the Top up on that white connector and lift the wires up and out of the connector. Maybe just a light sanding of the contacts on the black wires will do the trick for the Back up lights.

5W running light, closest to the license plate. have you tried backing off a little bit on the Socket. Sometimes the Circuit board gets beat up in the 'fully seated' position. With a meter, are you getting voltage to the metal tabs of the Socket? when it's in place and the lights are on?
