Fuel pressure regulators...are they interchangable? 700 1989

Hello Bricksters!
The Wifemobile is an 89 740 nonturbo, which is supposed to take the 0 280 160 294 FPR. I'm assuming this is a 3.0 bar unit. I have on hand a new 0 280 160 226 unit, 3.0 bar also but is specified for 85-88 volvo.
Could I interchange?
I have consulted the FAQ, and the info says as long as the bar # is the same,it is OK to interchange.
True or not?
thanks,
el raidman
