Hi,
I have hemmed and hawed, but I have decided to sell my 1972 142S. I have used it as my commuter car, (25,000miles a year) for the past almost two years. I am going to end up running it into the ground and that isn't going to be good for the car or for myself.
It is time for a "turn the key and go" for 100,000 miles with no issues cars. No that my car had issues but driving a 37 year old car every day it sooner or later would. Even though all of the major componenets have been rebuilt, small stuff will always happen. In the end I need better gas economy, AC, and other than oil changes no maintenance.
It is great fun, very fast, handles and stops GREAT! I am going to miss it, although I already have another project car to work with.
I am unsure the market for the car, hence me using the auction system. The car has had a lot of upgrades including a VPD spII motor, suspension and brake rebuilds, etc. When I do a rebuild I usually end up replacing everything, so I don't have to take it apart again. I have put a lot of $$ into the car, but also go ta lot of use out of it. It is a great start for someone who can take it to the next level or just wants to have a unique, fun, driver.
My wife has a Subaru impreza and my Vovlo will out handle it and out brake it easilly. It is also A lot more fun! I even lik eit better in the snow because it is more predictable and linear when it does come loose.
I haven't got old Volvo's out of my blood yet, so I am sure I will stay tuned to the "board".
