Dificulty starting after a short trip 120-130 1968

OK, so last year we added a 68 122 coupe to our family, and it has an odd problem. If the car is driven for a short distance (20 minutes - hr), is then shut off, and then if we try and restart it after 1/2 hr or so it will not start. It will crank over fine, but not fire. If we push start the car (push & drop clutch in 2nd) it will fire and run. I'm thinking maybe the coil is getting old, or the fuel pickup in the tank is funky, or maybe it's time the upgrade to an alternator.

Does anyone have an idea on what might be going on?

The car has a B18, with freshly & professionally rebuilt carbs, a new fuel pump and a good battery.

Thanks for your help.
