terminology - strut and/or shock 200 1988

In the front suspension, you have struts, period. When you replace them, you do so with strut inserts. On the rear end of the 240, you have shocks, you replace them with shocks. If you are looking for long-lived replacements for reasonable dollars, go with KYB, they are slightly better than factory stock and typically last more than four years.

Before replacing the front strut inserts on you own, make sure you have a safe spring compressor, otherwise, don't even attempt it on your own. Local parts stores will rent them out, not a bad choice!
