Hi folks,

I'm installing a Sunpro mechanical water temp gauge under my dash, next to my trusty oil pressure gauge (installed a couple months ago). I'm removing the block drain screw and putting the gauge probe in there (thanks Goatman!).

I have a question as to how much shaking the copper springy tube can take. I'm certainly not going to stress the tubing as I install it (and, at this point, all that's left is for me to drain the cooling system and screw in the probe), but I don't know how work-hardened the tube will get under normal conditions. Will the heat of the engine cyclically soften the copper tube? Does a mechanical temp gauge have a short life (hence the very slight cost)?

Thanks! As a side note, I am pretty sure I used the rubber plug in the firewall that was intended for the clutch cable... but mine's an automatic. The large hole allowed the probe and captive bolt to pass though easily.
