EGR light, sometimes won't turn over 900

The EGR light on my 1993 940 comes on occasionally. Most of the time, the car runs great. However, when I have driven it about an hour or so, the car will occasionally not start until it cools down. I checked and there are no codes to report. I believe, that the engine is getting a false signal that the motor is overheating and it is cutting the power to the starter. If I disconnect the battery and wait 20 minutes. I have changed the two engine temperature sensors; however, the EGR light stays on. The sensor I used were off "junk yard" cars; so I can buy new ones to test. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
