1971 164 BW35 --> M410 transmission swap questions 140-160

I have a line on a 1970 164 donor car with an M410 that I want to swap into my 1975 164 with a BW35. Aside from the obvious (crossmember, driveline, etc.), what do I need to consider besides transmission and clutch? I would prefer to use a short, "remote" shifter since the hole is already there. Can I use one from a 240 or do I need to stick with one from a 140/160? Am I correct in recalling the the pedal assemblies will be different between the 1970 and the 1975? Can I use a 240 pedal assembly? This will be my first transmission swap so any words of wisdom are greatly appreciated.
