Electrical engineers step inside 200

Hi Guys, Need your help!

My 15 yr old daughter is resurrecting a dead for 4 years 89 244 (w/egr).

She got it running, got CEL, and started checking OBD codes.
The EZ116K throws code 1-1-1, but the LH2.4 isn't throwing ANY codes.
Ran OBD unit diagnostics checks as per Bentley.
Unit tests out good except for test in step 5, page 241-8. That's the LED pin check, but LED works.

She suggested swapping OBD out of my 89 245 [good girl!] and got the same results
BUT, her OBD works just fine in 245 BTW

So, she can't get a reassuring result from OBD unit test no 5, but OBD works fine in another car So maybe OBD is good? We decided to leave known good OBD in her car.

She's reasoned that she should check the wire between the OBD socket and the LH control unit. She'll do that this afternoon, after school.

So my question is [because I need to stay one step ahead of her....hahaha] if this wire is OK, do I have a faulty LH control unit ? Have considered swapping LH control units, but any other tests you can suggest to run down this NO CODE issue?

TIA,
John
