Retrofitting stock tachometer to 240 200

Hi,

My 1992 240 wagon has no tachometer. It has a clock. I find this "unacceptable".

I just bought a 240 instrument pod on eBay that has a tach. I plan to put the tach in my existing pod.

Now just last week I replaced the odometer gear on the car, and i noticed while I was in there that there was an extra wire with a female spade lug that was not attached to anything.

Is that a tach wire lead? Could it be as simple as attaching that wire to my tach, when it comes, and bolting the tach in my existing pod in place of the clock?

Or, will I need to run a wire to the new tach from the coil or someplace else?

What is that extra wire for, if not a tachometer?

Whatever it takes to get this done, I'm fine with. I would like the installation to be as close to stock as possible.

thanks in advance.
