How long do Sachs shocks last? 200

Maybe it's my imagination, but I'm definitely getting a "bobbling" feeling out of my ride lately. As if the shocks are doing little or nothing to control the springs. The Sachs strut inserts/shocks are less than 3 years old. All-poly bushings, IPD bars, HD springs front, wagon springs rear, upper and lower braces.

Is it possible my stiffened . . . well, everything, has over-worked the shocks to the point of failure? I believe these are gas shocks, so there'd be no tell-tale sign of oil leaking down the shock tube if failed, correct?

How long should I expect out of Sachs shocks? How can I test them? I know the stupid bounce test is worthless because I've seen completely failed shocks "pass" this test. It's far too subjective a test. I guess the only other way of testing a shock would be to remove it and see if it extends/resists compaction, yes?

Maybe it's time for some Bilstein HDs, much as I hate to shell out that kind of cash.
