easiest way to remove hood? 200

hey all, so my hood is bent and while i've tried adjusting the latching piece to accomodate the new shape of the hood (by bending IT), i still can't properly open/close the hood any more. I leave the latch screws 2/3 loose and this freeplay allows for me to do the normal opening of the hood. But something about that seems less than safe (and likely will prohibit my car from passing the salvage vehicle inspection). I think the only other way to do this is to get a new hood ($40-50 at picknpull) or do the bending myself. Which i've tried, except not without removing the hood. How do i take the hood off so i can set it on the ground and do some fancy foot work on it? from the looks of it, it seems like i have a few options but there is probably a right and a wrong way -- considering the springs, even when fully open, are under constant tension, and i could see this being a real pain in the neck. any ideas?

THANKS!!!!!

p.s. hood is also tied down half the time, in case some of you are concerned about me driving this thing around with a janky, ready-to-fly hood.
