How to get at driver door post switch wire? 700

I need to tap into the driver door post switch wire. That is the little push in switch in the door post that activates when the door is open or closed.

I need to tap the switch wire to connect to my car alarm.

I am not sure how to access the switch. Or maybe the wire runs under the dash somewhere?

Should I simply remove the switch at the post using a star tool?
