940 In-Tank Fuel Pump Failure: Duh!!

Dope slap here. I know the in-tank main pumps (in Regina and late Bosch 940 systems) last maybe 150k miles before the commutators wear out. Procrastinate, procrastinate: I was in line at the bank in my 95 940 with 186k miles, heard this weird on and off buzzing sound from the rear, thought "fuel pump for sure", but had to get to a meeting ASAP. I broke down about forty miles from here. A $150 tow later, I got it in the garage, had a new pump and clamps shipped in from Borton, installed it (a pain in the trunk), and it fired right up.

A word to those who like preventive maintenance and reliable cars: if your Regina or late Bosch system is aging with miles around 150k, change the main in-tank pump for peace of mind.
