940 In-Tank Fuel Pump Failure: Duh!!

Steve,

It's interesting to see that your failure mileage was 186K. It's only a small sample, but adding that to the 200+K failure I noted below suggests that something like 180-182K might be a safe target for preemptive pump replacement.
[Assuming Harry's 280K might be more an anomaly than benchmark.]

Along with end-of-life mileage, some info on pump sources and current prices might be helpful to Regina Readers of this thread or those who may find it later. Would you let us know what Borton's pump price for 3507736-1 was?

Here is the price info I have from two other dealer sources:

• Tasca Volvo 1-800-784-5149 — $92.26 + shipping
• Beechmont Motors 1-800-255-3601 — $121* with free shipping (VCOA member deal only)
[But I don't know if the VCOA requirement is enforced.]

* I should note that in March '06 my discounted pump price from Beechmont was $174.81! I can't explain the big drop in price, unless it's a new supplier. In which case I hope Volvo's quality criteria still has some weight.
