Not Sure Which Front Brake Pads I Have ..... 700 1988

1988 740GLE Wagon. This car was brought into U.S. by original owner who was in Army over in Europe. It is tourist/diplomat version. I checked FAQ but am confused as on metal plate above passenger side front headlight at end of 2nd line there was the number 31. However on sticker on column between drivers side front & rear doors in brake line there was the number 2 . As I do not want to take off wheels to check and am preparing to order pads/parts that is why I ask. So which do I have : Bendix or Girlng ?? Besides pads what else should I order ?? I have only ever done rear pads on both 240 & 740 Volvos. Anything tricky about fronts ?? Thanks very much.
