940 In-Tank Fuel Pump Failure: Duh!!

In your case, Steve, yeah I would have gone with Bosch, too. But in my case, shipping from your side of the 49th to ours makes discount parts a bit more expensive and less convenient what with brokerage, border delays and currency exchange (the credit card companies are pirates in that regard). The best price my local discount source could do on a Bosch was around $275. Hella ones listed by his distributor as OEM were available for roughly half that price. As "OEM", I expected the Hella (Walbro) ones would be as beefy as a Bosch, but physically they aren't. That's not to say they couldn't last just as long.

As for labour, I have the major advantage of accessing the tank sending unit in a wagon. Much less demanding on the old back, but you do have to remove the floor board to get at the access plate. Having had sending units out and in a few times, it's pretty straightforward for me -about an hour from start to finish.
