Speedometer Problem 700 1992

I just bought a 92 745 with a screwy speedometer. Has anyone ever experienced the following:

Sometimes the speedo needle won't move at all.

Sometimes it will move, but will jump up to about 50% or 75% higher than actual speed. Then it will momentarily drop down to about actual speed then quickly jump way up again.

Sometimes when I stop it takes the needle about 3 seconds to (smoothly) settle down to "0".

One time I was sitting still in the driveway with the engine running and the needle momentarily spiked up to about 90 and then dropped back down.

The odometer NEVER works, regardless of what the speedo is doing.

I read in the FAQ's about replacing failed diodes inside the speedo. Do you thing that might be the problem here? Or has anyone ever solved a like issue?

Thanks.
