Auto to Manual Pedal Question 700

In the process of installing manual trans pedals into my 745T. I purchased a manual set and on the brackets for the manual set, there are two switches. First is the brake light switch, which is on the brake obviously. Second is a black vacuum/electrical switch on the clutch pedal. On the current AT pedals, this switch is on the brake pedal. Going to that switch was an electrical connector and a vacuum hose. What does this do? I'm guessing the electrical is for the clutch override for the starter, but I'm at a loss as to what the vacuum is for? Is this unit necessary?

Thanks,
Phil
