transmission problem 200 1993

I just picked up a nice 1993 240 Wagon. All runs well, however, the transmission behaves differently than I am used to. It changes from 2-3 at about 19 mph, and changes for 3-4 at about 44 mph. 2-3 seems early and 3-4 seems late.

I have flushed the trans but did not use synthetic to replace. And I adjusted the kickdown cable. So far no change.

Anyone have any suggestions? I also have a 240 as a parts car. Should I just drive until the tranny fails and then swap with the parts car, or is there anything I can do without pulling the tranny? Any magic elixers? Or is nothing really wrong?

Thanks much.

John
