1997 965 transmission worries, flashing lights mean $$$, I think... S90-V90

Wife called upon stating car to drive 22 miles home from work this evening. Amber arrow on instrument cluster is on, and light "W" and "E" lights flashing alternately.

She limped to a large parking lot and called again. I rear the FAQ's about that symptom, and was satisfied that the lights are not indicating a problem with the PNP switch.

She said the car seems to shift through all the gears OK.

The car has a little more than 200K miles, and since 128K I have not looked at the fluid level as the dipstick has no handle.

Any thoughts or tips on what to expect? Maybe a tranny flush is a starting place?
