For the few of us who are very happy with our stock stereo on our 900 series, I would definitely like to recommend the PA11 HON ipod adapter. It's a little box (Made by USA Spec) that converts ipod's signals to the M-Bus protocol used in Alpine radios such as those found in many Volvos. It hooks up to the CD changer port on the back, and lets you control your ipod's basic functions (next/prev track, volume, play/pause, playlist selection) from the radio, while the ipod sits in the glove compartment. It charges the ipod, and switches it off when not in use. Although it's advertised at $130+, I bid for mine and got it for less than $30 shipped. Granted, it was defective at first, and I didn't get support because I didn't purchase it from an authorized dealer, but I managed to fix it, with the help of this forum. The M-bus cable was the culprit; I had to cut it and solder the wires according to a pinout found here. Installation was very easy, and since I used to have an Alpine CD changer, I already had the VOL-ALP adapter, so it was literally a plug 'n play matter. I decided to glue the box to a side of the center console's panel (on the inside, of course) and route the ipod cable inside the console. It looks like a stock ipod interface from a 2010 model car. Sound is perfect. Oh, and it also has an additional RCA input, to hook up other types of MP3 players. Glad to help anyone who is considering an upgrade to their stereo.
