Virgos - wheel balancing weights on inside = shimmy @ 65mph? 200

A buddy of mine strongly advised me to get my wheel weights off the outside of my nicely refinished/refurbished Virgo wheels to avoid ruining the finish.

So when it came time to rotate my tires, I had the wheel weights moved from the outside/visible side of the wheels to the inside/invisible side.

Now I seem to have a new shimmy-vibration at about 65mph. I was warned this might happen, but my buddy convinced me the Virgo's would develop a terrible-looking crackling or something awful if I continued keeping my weights on the outside.

Any one else want to weigh in with their $0.02?
