Clunk and Shimmy in suspension soon after overhaul (sort of long) 700

1990 740T:
I had my front shocks (and bearings and boots, etc) replaced about 20,000 miles ago, and just recently (<10K miles) finished replacing all of my bushings and wear parts in my front suspension. I now have a shimmy back, and want to know if anyone has a suggestion for what to check now.
I replaced the bushings/parts in this order:
1) Tie rods and ends (ZF rack, where you have to peen them)
2) Cone bushings (did dremel out remnants of old bushings
3) Sway bar bushings
4) Front control arm bushings (had to be machined in and out - press left grip marks on the bars)
EDIT: Also replaced ball joints with the machine shop.
5) Re-replaced a front tie rod end, which had a torn boot, but was not yet bad.
I believe I replaced everything with OEM parts, no scan-tech bs.

Wheels have not been balanced since all this, but I don't think it's the issue.
I feel a shimmy that comes and goes at different speeds, but is most noticeable at speeds over 45. It's a fast shimmy, not one that feels like a bent wheel (have Hydra mag rims anyway).
As for the clunk, it happens when I brake hard and am near stopping (bottom of a driveway, stopping on flat ground) and under 5 mph. It doesn't clunk every time, only when I brake harder than usual.
Also clunks when going over speed bumps, and when steering is turned near lock.
I can reproduce it while sitting still and swinging the steering wheel back and forth, which makes me think that it's the inner tie rod (same one where I replaced the end).

Does that make sense to anyone else? I don't know if I properly pre-tensioned the bushings when I installed them, and I was certain that they were dry and not lubricated in any way.

Thanks anyone,
Will
