Is there a reason no one has done this? 120-130

Well, I have a '67 122. If I understand correctly, I have the Dana 30 rear axle with the 10 spline shafts. This sucks with regard to finding an LSD.

Whats to stop me from using the axle internals from a 240? swapping out the bearings, the half shafts, the diff, everything and throwing into the 122? I know it would change the rear bolt pattern, but I could live with that for he disc brakes and greater LSD selection. It would also stop me from having to weld the 122 mounts onto a 240 axle.

Is the 122 housing shorter or something? Why wont this work?
