initally i found spark coming out of the rex coil to the diz.

my daughter went back and removed the 2 bolts on the coil from its other half and cleaned up the contacts and the coil posts good and shiny. then sandpapered all the metal till shiny and wire brushed the bolts.

after putting everything back together the car now starts right up.

apparently corrosion and bad grounds on the rex coil/ignition to the frame could do this
