Question about wiring of tail gate light 200 1990

Today I lost all my brake lights while driving, a guy driving behind me stopped me and told me. The 7th, 10 Amp fuse had blown away , I substitued it with 15 Amp blue fuse and then the red bulb failure sensor blew apart (the brake circuit), In short got the car towed back

I think the short is happening in the tail gate light though I had replaced that wire last year . I used crocodile clips to test the blown apart bulb failure sensor and with the tailgate light in circuit it gets very hot.
I have two questions

Q1.From where does the tail gate light draws current. Wiring Diag (1986) for Left and Right light show parallel yellow wires till bulb failure sensor so it looks like somewhere the wiring gets split for the third tail gate light.

Q2 How to check short in wiring. I will get a DVM soon.

The car in question is 1990 240SW.

Thanks in advance.
