1992 940 Shifter Disassembly ???

My neutral start switch in my 92 940 died. To remove this, I had to pull the shifter, only to find the switch is mounted on plastic posts with palnuts. And to get it out, I have to remove the big horizontal pin holding the shifter together at the bottom. This is the shifter with two metal arms on the left side. Anybody got any clues as to how to do this? I don't have the parts diagram. It "looks" like the pin may be punched out toward the right, but try as I may it won't budge. There is also a suspicious roll pin right in the middle of the shifter that appears to hold things together.
I am tempted to break off the plastic posts and replace with screws. But if my park-lock solenoid ever goes out, I'll be back in the same spot, having to take it apart.
