1984 245 GLT A/C clutch won't engage 200

Howdy folks,

I wired an electric fan to the front of my 240 the other day to help with cooling only when the A/C is running. Took it out for a run and everything was running great. Although the load on the alternator was heavy. Stopped to take a peek under the hood as it sounded really silent.

The inline fuse holder running from the #30 pin of the single pole/single throw relay I installed melted. So I went an purchased another (fuse holder) installed it and changed the ground wire for the fan to a better location.

Now the fan works great but won't shut off once the AC switch Microswitch on the dash is turned on. The switch must be turned on to activate the fan as before but will not turn off once the switch is turned off.

More troubling is the A/C clutch will not engage now as it should by turning the same switch. I checked a moment ago and there is no power coming from the red/white wire at the AC switch (Microswitch) as there was before the thing melted.

I'm using the red/white wire from the A/C switch Microswitch to provide constant power to the #85 pin of the relay I installed. I assume because there is no power the fan will not turn off and on as before.

All fuses look in order and I can't locate any other melted wires.

I tried putting in a used A/C relay (behind dash) as I thought perhaps that blew but it did not make a change.

When it was working for those 10 minutes or so a huge drain was put on the alternator. Any way to resolve this?
