Anyone ever use Coolant Test Strips 200 1993

Hello All,

I purchased Napa coolant test strips today and got the following results:

93 Gn Wagon coolant changed 3-07 pH 7.5 60% glycol

93 Red Sedan coolant changed 5-07 pH 7.5 60% glycol

99 V-70 coolant changed 7-07 pH 7.5 60% glycol

Now it just so happens that I have my sister-in-law's 2003 V-70 trying to help her out with a 105K service: I don't know if the coolant's ever been changed, but,

2003 XC-70 ph 7.5 60% glycol

So I went a little further - and I've had this discussion before if anyone cares to search the archives.

93 Gn Wagon - coolant "conductivity" = .25v (but gradually goes down if I leave the probe in the coolant. Goes back up if I stir the probe

Red Sedan - .23v also goes down if I leave the probe in. Goes back up......

99 V-70 - .35v also goes down............

2003 XC-70 .15v and stays there

These observations are kind of annoying. First the test strips cost $20 and from what I've read, coolant change is warranted when the acidity build up so that the pH is less than 6. Secondly, I'm somewhat curious as to why all the test strip results were the same.

Does this mean that after two years, I shouldn't bother changing the coolant.

Anyway, maybe one of you have some input to offer to either make me feel better about the $20 or tell me why my observations are meaningful or not.

Thanks for your thoughts,

Marty Wolfson
